Hay actividades que nos hacen ejercitar y tonificar nuestros músculos; otras con las que nos divertimos al son de la música y otras que nos ayudan a relajarnos y a subir nuestra autoestima. Pero hay una que aúna todos estos beneficios: la danza del vientre.

A pesar de que el suelo pélvico empieza a ser conocido ahora, en muchas otras culturas, sobre todo orientales, tienen formas ancestrales de cuidar de él, ya sea en forma de danza, respiraciones o ejercicios. La danza del vientre es una de ellas.

Muchos fisioterapeutas lo saben y están empezando a incorporar esta milenaria danza proveniente de Egipto en sus programas de ejercicios y en las clases de preparación al parto y recuperación en el post parto. Está especialmente indicada en la menopausia, época en la que se pierde masa muscular por la falta de hormonas.

Los movimientos de ondulación del vientre y la cadera, los shimis (o agitación rápida de cadera), la postura, con la espalda inclinada hacia atrás, y la respiración hacen de la danza del vientre un baile perfecto para la mujer por varios motivos:

  • Nos hace conectar con una de las zonas más importantes de nuestro cuerpo pero al que, sin embargo, no prestamos demasiada atención: El vientre, donde se encuentra nuestro suelo pélvico, que sujeta nuestro aparato reproductor, nuestro aparato sexual y nuestro aparato excretor.
  • No sólo trabaja la musculatura y la flexibilidad de todo el cuerpo, desde tobillos hasta cuello, con especial atención a los músculos abdominales, lumbares y pélvicos, si no que por su condición hipopresiva, ejercita los músculos del suelo pélvico sin dañarlos.
  • Favorece la digestión, reduce los dolores menstruales, y combate el estreñimiento, gracias a los movimientos pélvicos que masajean la zona.
  • Fortalece la autoestima. La postura con los brazos abiertos, la cadera hacia adelante y la espalda inclinada hacia atrás otorga gran feminidad y sensualidad a los movimientos.
  • La danza del vientre está asimismo indicada para tratar ciertas disfunciones sexuales que pueden tener relación con el suelo pélvico, como la falta de libido, la dispareunia (dolor durante las relaciones), el vaginismo (imposibilidad de penetración) y la anorgasmia.
  • Quema unas 300 calorías por hora y favorece el movimiento de nuestras articulaciones, por lo que previene la artrosis.

Además de todo esto, la danza del vientre es divertida y hace que nos concentremos en nuestros movimientos y nos olvidemos de nuestros problemas cotidianos. La música es alegre y sensual, lo que favorece que nos sintamos como diosas moviendo los pañuelos imaginarios y agitando la cadera al son de los tambores.
