¿Qué es la vejiga hiperactiva?

¿Tienes que ir con frecuencia al baño aunque el volumen de orina sea pequeño?, ¿y lo haces con sensación de urgencia? Quizá tengas la vejiga hiperactiva. Te contamos los síntomas y cómo solucionarlo.

La vejiga es un órgano hueco que se encuentra situado en la pelvis, detrás del pubis, y está encargado de almacenar la orina, vaciándose de forma periódica según el reflejo de la micción.

Orinar no es un proceso tan fácil como parece, requiere un adecuado control neurológico y hábitos saludables.

Hay que tener en cuenta que:

  • No es adecuado realizar pocas micciones al día, reteniendo la vejiga llena, ni orinar más de ocho veces diarias.
  • El estado emocional regula nuestras micciones.
  • La continencia urinaria y el vaciado de la vejiga se suelen alterar con la edad.
  • Las bebidas carbonatadas, alcohólicas o excitantes como el café o té, inestabilizan y generan aumento de frecuencia y urgencia miccional.
  • El reflejo de la micción se realiza en la médula, pero podemos reeducar la vejiga con control voluntario.

Con la edad se reduce la capacidad de almacenar orina en el interior de la vejiga y es frecuente sentir urgencia para orinar aunque esta haya almacenado poca cantidad de líquido. La urgencia es el principal síntoma de la vejiga hiperactiva.

Según el estudio de Milson publicado en 2001 (BJU Int), la prevalencia de vejiga hiperactiva en la población mayor de 40 años se estima en un 22%.

Si tienes urgencia miccional asociada o no a escapes de orina, y necesitas orinar a menudo, incluso de noche (nicturia), puedes estar padeciendo las consecuencias de una vejiga hiperactiva.

¿Cuándo debes consultar al médico?

  1. Si limitas tu vida social y personal a la presencia cercana de un cuarto de baño.
  2. Si dejas de ingerir líquidos por miedo a los escapes precedidos de urgencia.
  3. Si restringes tu actividad sexual por miedo a que se despierte la urgencia urinaria.
  4. Usas protectores íntimos para estar más segura por miedo a mojarte.
  5. Usas ropa oscura o llevas ropa de repuesto cuando sales.
  6. Te recluyes y limitas tus salidas o viajes. Te aíslas.

En los centros adecuados (centros de fisioterapia especializada, unidades de suelo pélvico…) te enseñan a adquirir hábitos saludables, reeducar la vejiga y fortalecer el suelo pélvico para disminuir la urgencia y frecuencia urinaria.

Muchas veces, dependiendo de la intensidad de los síntomas, tu médico te puede indicar un medicamento o terapias como la electroestimulación o la inyección de toxina botulínica en el interior de la vejiga.

Si tu vejiga se rebela, reedúcala, no te aísles. Recuerda que mientras puedes utilizar absorbentes específicos para el pH y la densidad de la orina, como los de la gama TENA Lady*, que te harán sentir segura y protegida. Prueba muestras gratuitas.

  57. Es mi mama tiene 100 años y su calidad de vida ha disminuido se le observa agotada x su trastorno de sueño Se levanta 20 y 30 veces en la noche Dice que ya se orina , le urge. Micciona suficiente cantidad. Además se levanta con urgencia y en algunas entre una micción y otra es falsa los tratamientos opción #1 medir orina y reposición de líquidos y no mas líquidos después de las 5pm , no resulto se le dio anticolinergico a la vez y nada opción # 2 Terapia del suelo pélvico ,nada . Se le había dado imprimida y fue lo peor que le hicimos .
